In Love? Email is Officially More Romantic Than Voicemail, Study Finds
11/21/15 Krissy Brady
If you’re crazy in love, a new study suggests expressing yourself via email is the way to go. There’s a new romantic gesture on the block that just might tug at your phone-hating heartstrings: According to a new study published in the journal Computers in Human Behavior, sending an email can be more effective in expressing how in love you are than leaving a voicemail (no matter how adorable).
The Real Reason You See Faces in Things
8/3/15 by Krissy Brady
Yep, seeing faces in inanimate objects is a thing. It’s called pareidolia, and recent research from the NNT Communication Science Laboratory in Tokyo suggests people who think their electrical socket looks alarmed, their car looks happy, and their house looks suspicious, are more likely to be neurotic. Excuse me while I add this to my scroll of emotional baggage.
Science Finally Proves Sarcastic People Are the Bomb (Took You Long Enough)
9/1/15 by Krissy Brady
Sarcasm is deeply embedded in my DNA—so much so, I don’t even realize it’s happening. For example, when I found out my favorite Caesar salad dressing was discontinued, I didn’t just sigh disappointedly and pick a new one (you know, since that would be normal). Nope, I glared at the shitty dressings I had to choose from with disdain, and said, “Because who wouldn’t want to switch to a cheap, watered down dressing that turns your salad into paste and lights your insides on fire?”
The National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) provides low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women access to lifesaving breast and cervical cancer screenings and follow-up services. I just got in from taking a walk with friends on a picture-perfect day with blue skies and the feel of autumn in the air. Let me start by telling you how rejuvenating it is to begin working on a blog after a dose of fresh air!

You may be aware that Vitamin D is important for helping make strong bones. But vitamin D often appears in the media because of its potential role in a host of other health effects, from preventing cancer, diabetes, and heart disease to simply living longer.

What do you store your leftovers in? I’m sure, like most people you place them into a plastic tupperware container, however you may be surprised to learn that some food storage options add their own special “flavor” to your leftovers.

As a child you probably heard the saying ‘You are what you eat’ at school and never gave it much thought – understandably. However, as you grow older and you start to take a greater interest in your health, perhaps by choice or perhaps out of necessity, that saying may begin to take on greater meaning.

The environment and its preservation has been of worldwide concern since the dawn of humanity’s modern evolution. With global changes and human factors evidently altering the course of the earth’s long-term sustainability, it’s pertinent that we focus on finding ways to counteract these effects.

Are Goals Setting You Up for Failure?
3/8/13
The mind fascinates me. In the book called, “The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking”, the author, Oliver Burkeman, dives into what he refers to as our our “goal crazy” society. Sighting a number of studies he has determined that people create goals in the name of planning for the future and productivity, but in reality, it is a means to remove the unsettling feeling of uncertainty.

3/15/15 by Mike Barrett
Tap water is by no means something to reach for when looking to achieve optimal health (check this out to see why that is). But unfortunately, the common alternative of bottled water isn’t really much better.
